The role
Role summary
RODMENA is looking for a Government Relations Manager to lead its engagement across the United Kingdom. You will shape and carry out our government affairs and public policy strategy, supporting growth, strategic partnerships and long-term market access across the public sector and regulated industries.
The role covers policy, artificial intelligence and deep technology. It needs someone who can explain what political, regulatory and institutional developments mean for the business, and who can build trusted working relationships with government stakeholders, corporate customers, trade bodies and strategic partners.
RODMENA builds distributed intelligence systems and the platforms they run on. Our Trust Centre, platform topology and company policies are all published on this site, and they are the same documents a buyer is given. You would be responsible for how that record is presented to government and institutional audiences, and for bringing their requirements back into what we build.
Responsibilities
What the job involves
- Own the United Kingdom government affairs plan, including its priorities, stakeholders, milestones and the case the company makes.
- Build and maintain relationships with government departments, agencies, trade bodies, industry associations and strategic partners.
- Track legislative, regulatory and procurement developments across public-sector technology, artificial intelligence and data protection, and turn them into written guidance the leadership team can act on.
- Position RODMENA for public-sector frameworks and procurement routes, and advise on the conditions of participation each one sets.
- Support bids and partnerships with the policy context, institutional relationships and written material they need.
- Represent the company at industry, policy and standards forums, and feed what you learn there into product and assurance decisions.
- Work with engineering and assurance so that what we promise externally matches what the estate can evidence. Every claim on this site links to the record behind it, and the same standard applies to what is said in meetings.
Requirements
Skills and experience
- Substantial experience in government affairs, public policy or institutional relations, gained in industry, government, a trade body or a consultancy.
- A working understanding of United Kingdom public-sector procurement and the conditions of participation that govern it.
- The judgement to read political and regulatory change accurately and set out what it means for a business, without overstating what is known.
- A record of building lasting relationships with senior government and institutional stakeholders.
- Excellent written English, as the role produces briefings that other people make decisions from.
- The right to work in the United Kingdom.
Also useful
- Experience of selling or delivering technology into the public sector or another regulated industry.
- Enough technical knowledge to hold a credible conversation about artificial intelligence, distributed systems and software supply-chain assurance.
- Experience with security clearance, or eligibility to obtain it.
- Familiarity with standards and assurance schemes such as Cyber Essentials, ISO/IEC 27001 or software bill-of-materials practice.
In return
What we offer
- Direct contact with the people who build the systems. RODMENA is a small company, and the role reports to the Director.
- An assurance record that is already written down and published, so the evidence you present already exists.
- Hybrid working from London, with only the travel the role needs.
- Salary is discussed at the first interview and set according to the seniority you bring. We do not advertise a range we would not honour.
